How to quickly put yourself together? The situation is luckily to get out of hand when combining being a mum, a wife, an employee. You can quickly find yourself overwhelmed. Therefore, causing you to not pay attention to your appearance. And you come to accept that the way you look is not that important. Little by little, we make do with the excuses and end up losing confidence in ourselves. I find myself in this situation; I was looking unkempt, not up to the game, never had time to pamper myself, I was always a little behind even with some nice clothes on; I was lacking something, I was aware of not standing up. It was either my hair, nails, shoes, face or the clothes combination…. I was never confident in these situations. I decided to remedy all these shortcomings, increase my confidence, and ultimately look good. And I must say it works. I took these steps to always look put-together despite my hectic life.
- THINK AHEAD
I realised that the first thing to do was always think ahead and plan ahead. This is very important because I wasn’t planning, I never knew what to wear in advance. So, most of the time, I was ending up with what I didn’t like or what was convenient; this caused me to always wear the same clothes and shoes. Ultimately only used around 20% of my wardrobe. So, plan ahead what you will wear, be clothes, shoes or accessories; it is a good idea to even try them on to ensure they fit to avoid last-minute disappointment. This will also help experiment and use most of the things you have.
- TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR
Your hair is a giveaway; it clearly shows if you are put together or not. Make sure to pay attention to your hair, make it looks nice and neat. I can assure you that people can distinguish between elaborate messy hair and plain messy hair. I am a wig lover, but sometimes I like to remove the wig from my hair to let my head breathe; doing so, I neglect my natural hair and find myself not fixing the wig properly back on my head when I am running late. In these cases, the wig is out of place, not correctly combed, so not very nice looking. So, to solve this issue, I force myself to keep the wig on up to night-time or have waves sew in. I purchased little products to help tame frizzy hair to lay down my edges. This automatically lifted and upgraded my appearance and gave me more confidence.
- TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN AND EYEBROWS
Having lovely skin makes the task much more manageable; most of the time, no need for makeup. Have a straightforward, simple skin routine that will allow you to deeply clean your skin. It is good to have your eyebrows shaped; there are different methods around for eyebrows; you can get them threaded, or tint them, or microblade them or get them tattooed… Any of these procedures will make you feel good and always ready to go, anytime.
- HAVE WELL KEPT HANDS AND NAILS
Get your nails done to save time and be ready on the go. Having good nails can skyrocket your confidence. You can take care of them yourself or have them done by a professional. To look quickly put together, never allow your nails to be chipped, be dirty, looking unkempt. A simple trick is to use oil on your nails regularly; this will give your hands and nails a smooth and pleasant appearance.
- WEAR THE RIGHT CLOTHES, SHOES, ACCESSORIES
Clothes are an essential part of quickly putting yourself together and looking nice. So, choose your clothes wisely and in advance. Tried them on to ensure they properly fit; they should not be too loose or too tight. Ensure that your clothes are well pressed with no wrinkles and no stain. Accessorises can really lift up an outfit, a statement watch, or jewellery; belts can make you look put together. Just do not overdo it. Ensure to wear the appropriate shoes with your outfit. Prepare the shoes you will wear in advance, choose them comfy and try them. They should not be too tight, too large, out of context. Your whole appearance should match.
- WISELY CHOOSE YOUR COATS AND JACKETS
Coats can make or break your look. It is a good idea to invest in some nice coats. Sometimes the coat is what people first see; they don’t get to see what is underneath the coat. So, ensure they see is something nice, fit, matching the overall look. Not too tight or too loose.
